All Young Carers have rights !

The law says that councils must:
· Identify young carers
· Provide you with information and preventive support
· Protect you from undertaking excessive levels of care
· Conduct assessments of young carers' own needs
Your local council should offer you an assessment of your own needs or put you in touch with your local young carers service. Also, schools are now expected to identify young carers and think about how to support them. So this means you should let your school know you are a young carer. You should also tell your GP surgery.
